Project Brief

To design a residential project for Damien Steven Hirst at the Troika Condominium unit A-29-1, Persiaran KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur with the size 1600 square feet.

Site Analysis

The site is located at Persiaran KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Client Brief

Damien Hirst is an English artist, entrepreneur and art collect or. He is one of the Young British Artist (YBA’s), who dominated the art scene in the UK during the 1990s. He is a famous artist in UK and he is also one of the top five most expensive living artist. His background family is quite dramatic, where his father left he and his mom behind since he was child. Since then he become interested in pathology and human organs. Moreover, when he was teenagers he become interested to things that are related to death. His artworks is all related to death style especially skull, which his favorite. Even though it’s creepy to have death style but he involves colorful colors into his art pieces. He also often collaborate with famous designers or brands, one of the examples is Alexander Mcqueen. He also have design a residential and commercial place following his art style. One of his famous artwork is called a lone sheep in a vitrine, which he got nominated for the Turner Prize.

Concept Statement

Damien Hirst is a British who start to have interest in death style since child. Furthermore, his broken family background makes
him more interest and deeply loves death style. For mind map B it explains more deeply into Damien style. From mind map A
it can be conclude into 3 keyword or elements, which are repetition, flow and cross.

These 3 keywords are explaining the bright side of DEATH.
1. Repetition explains about his art style which he likes to repeat dots and colour. It also explains about his relationship which
he likes to change his partner too often.
2. Flow explains about his personality which is easy going and free spirited. And it also explains the flow from human organ
blood.
3. Cross is taken from the bright side of death, which is taken from bible and elements. Cross is explained about his religion,
as he is Catholic. Cross also related to horse man which is related to DEATH.

These 3 elements can be applied into interior and exterior. For interior it can be applied to shelf, flooring, cabinets, platform. It
can also be applied to sofa, chairs, table let, etc. for interior it can be applied to shape or the structure of its building.
